Privacy Policy

The Star Moment, operated by Ciercle LLC, respects your privacy. This policy explains what we ("Ciercle LLC") collect and why.

What we collect

Your email address, the details you enter to design your map (date, place, text, and a photo if you add one), a shipping address for printed orders, and basic purchase records. We keep personal data to a minimum.

How we use it

To deliver your files or poster, provide support, and — only if you opt in — send occasional product emails. We never sell your data.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google (Analytics and Ads), Meta (Facebook) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used and how our advertising performs. These services set cookies and may collect your IP address, device information and pages viewed. When you complete a purchase, we also send Google a hashed (scrambled) copy of your email address so Google Ads can tell which ad led to the sale; it is not sent if you declined. If you are visiting from outside the United States, these tools stay off until you accept them in the cookie notice; choosing "Decline" keeps them off. Visitors in the United States can decline at any time from the same notice, and everyone can limit tracking with browser settings or the opt-out tools those providers offer.

Why we are allowed to use it

We process your order details because we need them to perform the contract you entered into when you bought a map. We use analytics and advertising tools on the basis of your consent (the cookie notice) outside the United States, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site inside it. We send marketing email only to people who asked for it, and every such email has a one-click unsubscribe.

Who else sees it (processors)

Stripe (payments and fraud checks), Resend (transactional and flow email), our print partner Gelato and its local printers (name, shipping address and the artwork, for printed orders only), Hetzner (hosting, Germany), Google (Analytics, Ads and reCAPTCHA-free form checks), Meta and Microsoft Clarity (advertising and behaviour analytics, only with consent where consent is required). Each of these acts on our instructions, and we share the minimum each one needs. We never sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the advertising cookies you can decline.

International transfers

We are a US company using US and EU service providers, so personal data may be processed in both. Transfers out of the EEA and the UK rely on the standard contractual clauses our providers publish, or on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified.

How long we keep it

Order and payment records: seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. Map designs and rendered files: as long as your download links should keep working, and at least two years, so we can re-send them. Email-capture records for people who never ordered: two years, or until you ask us to delete them. Contact-form messages: two years. Analytics data: as configured in each tool, typically 14 months. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis within 30 days.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, deletion, a portable export, or that we stop using it for marketing, by emailing hello@thestarmoment.com. We reply within 30 days and we never charge for it or treat you differently for asking. In the EEA and the UK (GDPR) you may also object to processing, ask us to restrict it, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your data-protection authority. In California (CCPA/CPRA) you have the rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — we do not sell data, and the cookie notice is the opt-out for advertising cookies. We may ask you to confirm the email address an order was placed with before acting on a request.

Children

The site is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS only, payment details never touch our servers, access to the admin dashboard is restricted and logged, and personal data sits in an access-controlled database. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
