Eclipse Star Map: Your Sky Inside a Golden Corona
The Eclipse design is the most dramatic of the twelve. Your sky is drawn on a dark disc, and around the disc burns the thin golden corona of a total solar eclipse, the light leaking into a warm amber-black poster. The stars and constellation lines sit in white and cream across the dark centre, and the title and details are set beneath in the same warm tones. It is a design for a milestone: a birthday that mattered, a graduation, a promotion, the night something changed.
What the Eclipse design shows
The chart inside the disc is the real sky for the date, time and place you enter: around 9,000 stars from the HYG catalog down to magnitude 6.5, and all 88 constellations with their official line figures, computed for your coordinates and your minute, any date from 1900 to 2100.
The corona around it is a photograph of a real total eclipse, used as a frame. It is the same on every Eclipse map and it does not mean an eclipse happened on your date. Think of it as the mat around the picture: the sky inside is yours, the ring around it is the design.

Colours, paper and framing
The poster ground is a very dark warm brown, close to black, that picks up amber from the corona toward the centre. The corona itself runs from white-gold at the disc edge to deep orange where it fades. Stars are white; constellation lines are a pale cream that reads as warm against the disc rather than cold. Title and details are set in cream.
On semi-gloss paper the gold prints with real luminosity, which is why we recommend the framed print for this design over a home print on matte stock. If you print at home, use a photo paper with some sheen; matte paper flattens the corona. The black wood frame continues the dark ground and makes the gold the only warm thing on the wall.
Eclipse works in rooms with wood, brass and darker tones. On a white wall it becomes a strong focal point; hang it alone rather than in a gallery grid.

Questions about the Eclipse design
Was there an eclipse on my date?
The design does not check that. The corona is a fixed photograph used as a frame around your sky. If there really was an eclipse on your date, the map is a fitting way to mark it, but the design looks the same either way.
Are the stars accurate on the Eclipse design?
Yes. The chart inside the disc uses the same catalog and calculation as every other design: your exact date, time and coordinates.
Does the gold print well?
On our semi-gloss paper it prints with real depth. For a home print, choose a photo paper with some gloss; on matte paper the corona loses its glow.
Can I turn off the constellation lines?
Yes. With the lines off, the disc shows only the stars, which some people prefer against the corona.
Can I add a photo?
