The ground is a warm off-white. The disc is the same deep navy as the Navy design, with white stars, faint colour tints on the brightest, and pale steel-blue constellation lines. The ring around the disc is a fine line. Title and details are set in dark ink on the pale ground, which is what makes the design read so cleanly from a distance.

Navy Disc prints well at home: the pale ground needs little ink and the disc is small enough for any good printer to fill evenly. Use a heavy matte paper.
